French womenswear label Sézane, which recently began to expand its domestic presence by opening pop-up stores in several regional branches of the Galeries Lafayette department stores, has announced a partnership with US department store group Nordstrom.
From 11th April, fans of Sézane in the USA will find the label’s collections at Nordstrom branches in Seattle, Chicago, Costa Mesa, San Francisco and Austin, where they will be showcased in the apartment-like ambience that characterises the Sézane stores in Paris, open since 2015, and New York, opened last September.
“We want to introduce new labels with a selective distribution to Nordstrom customers, and we are delighted to be able to offer them Sézane’s highly coveted collections,” said Tricia Smith, Vice-President for women’s ready-to-wear at Nordstrom. “Presenting [Sézane] in a format similar to the private apartment ambience of the label’s Paris store isn’t just a way of translating the Parisian experience elsewhere, it’s also a way of making our customers feel a sense of discovery,” added Smith.
Besides finding the Sézane collections in-store, the label’s aficionados will be able to order the products on Nordstrom's e-tail site, including those of the Spring/Summer 2018 collection. Nevertheless, designer Morgane Sézalory doesn’t wish to deviate from the label’s direct, straightforward way of selling: “We are delighted to continue our expansion in the USA via Nordstrom (...) allowing more and more women to discover and appreciate our label. It was very important for me to give customers a way of understanding and experiencing the collection first-hand.”
2018 is turning into a busy year for Sézane, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary by launching the Demain ethical programme and also the Dear Studio personal shopper service. And by launching on 4th April the Grand Numéro website, specialised in luxury hotel reservations. The site taps the insider knowledge of French fashion industry experts like fashion editor Virginie Benarroch, designers Colombe Campana, Marguerite Bartherotte, Rime Arodaky and Clara Blocman, and influencers Adenorah, Samar Seraqui de Buttafoco and Mathilde Lacombe.
