Thanks to police, a baby in California was safely delivered into the world ... on the side of the road.
Lilianna Alamillo, the mother of the child, said she was very nervous once she realized the baby was coming and they weren’t going to make it to the hospital.
"God please send someone, I was worried about the baby. If they had not been there, I don't know what would have happened,” Alamillo told KCBS.
The baby’s father, Alan Lopez, was nervous and in the driver’s seat during the ordeal.
“She started screaming at me, ‘call 911!'” Lopez said.
California Highway Patrol officers Kyle Beidermann and Richard Yerba arrived on the scene to help deliver the couple’s baby girl. The impromptu delivery was captured on the officers’ dash camera.
The delivery happened on Yerba’s last day of training.
"It was an amazing experience, and something I never thought I'd be able to do in my training,” Yerba said.
Officers got to meet baby Mia for the second time at a press conference at police headquarters.
"You sign up for this job to help others, it didn't take me long to enjoy something so joyful,” Yerba said.
