ABC is exploring the possibility of a spin-off of The Middle, the family comedy which wrapped last week after nine seasons.
EW.com cautioned no deals have been signed yet, but it reported the network is considering giving Eden Sher's eternally optimistic Sue Heck her own show.
If ABC does go forward with the series, it likely would not be ready until the end of 2018, beginning of 2019.
The Hollywood Reporter said ABC and Warner Bros. TV declined comment.
Sher has not publicly commented about the buzz, but Patricia Heaton, who played her mom on The Middle, tweeted: "Keep your fingers crossed, @TheMiddle_ABC fans - I would love to see this happen as much as you - I need my Middle fix too! @edensher"
The news comes a day after ABC canceled Roseanne after its star Roseanne Barr made racist remarks on Twitter.
