Is there a chance for Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew to reconcile and remarry?
The Duke and Duchess of York remain friends after their divorce. In fact, they still share a home at the Royal Lodge, Windsor. They also spend time with each other and were last spotted at the Royal Ascot together.
According to Isabella Sullivan, a journalist for Express, Prince Andrew and Ferguson recreated one of their very first dates during the event. The Royal Ascot is a memorable event for the former lovers as they attended the event back in 1985, a year before they tied the knot. During the sighting, the pair was very affectionate and playful with each other.
Ferguson shared a snap of her recent reunion with Prince Andrew at the Royal Ascot on Instagram. The photo featured the Duke and Duchess of York with their eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice. The trio looked happy as they are laughing in the photo.
"Great day with my family @ascotracecourse @hrhthedukeofyork #Beatrice @princesseugenie #royalascot #racing," Ferguson wrote in the caption.
Ferguson and Prince Andrew first met when they were just kids as they have the same social circles. They also attend a polo match with their families regularly. In fact, they were photographed together when she was just 11 years old.
Although the Duke and Duchess of York had met a lot of times when they were younger, they only noticed each other when Princess Diana reintroduced them at a party. After that event, Ferguson and Prince Andrew started dating.
Ferguson and Prince Andrew announced their engagement on March 19, 1986. On July 23 of the same year, they exchanged "I do's" at Westminster Abbey. However, their marriage was rumored to be on the rocks in 1991 because Ferguson was often seen in the company of other men.
They announced their split after Ferguson was photographed in a scandalous scene with her financial advisor, John Bryan. However, despite the controversy, the exes remain amicable and supportive of each other that's why many want them to remarry.
Prince Andrew is seventh-in-line to the throne and can remarry Ferguson if he wants to. According to the Royal Marriages Act, only the first six individuals in the line of succession to the British throne need the king or queen's consent for marriage.
