A new update for Call of Duty: WWII rolls out today that adds a brand-new map and the option to play as little green toy soldiers. The map, named Sandbox, drops players into an actual sandbox where players can wage war on a much tinier scale.
[post_ads]Call of Duty: WWII’s new Sandbox map — it’s available first on PlayStation 4 — is just one part of the game’s Days of Summer event, which also includes the return of Leprechaun Hunt and aerial dogfighting mode. The new map will see players fighting among sandcastles, plastic shovels and sandy trenches. It also includes a massive environmental hazard in the form of quartermaster Captain Butcher, who will attempt to melt the little green army men with a magnifying glass. Sandbox will also support Call of Duty: WWII’s Prop Hunt mode, which should make it even wilder.
The Days of Summer event adds a trio of new weapons and summer-themed gear as well, but that’s all overshadowed by the fact that Activision and Sledgehammer Games are getting real weird with their new toy-focused multiplayer skirmish.
Call of Duty: WWII’s Days of Summer event runs until Aug. 28.
