Horizon Zero Dawn is getting a second life as a board game, courtesy of tabletop mavens Steamforged Games. The company announced that it will soon launch a crowdfunding campaign for a tabletop take on the well-received PlayStation 4 exclusive, much like it’s done with its other video game spinoffs in the past.
There’s not much to see from the proposed Horizon Zero Dawn project yet, although the Steamforged blog post has some renders of playable pieces based on Aloy and one of those robotic animals — a Scrapper — that inhabit her land. With the blessing of Sony Interactive Entertainment and Guerrilla Games, which developed Horizon Zero Dawn, we’ll likely see even more nice touches with the finished version.

A Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for the board game is forthcoming, with no details yet on the campaign goal. But considering Steamforged’s success with its previous Kickstarter campaigns — including board games based on Dark Souls and Resident Evil 2 — it seems likely that Horizon Zero Dawn will also be funded.
Stay tuned for more info, and maybe dive back into Horizon Zero Dawn during your wait. We recently did and found an adventure game that remains one of the decade’s best.
