The TravelPulse Podcast is all-new this week as travel expert Mark Murphy chimes in on the biggest stories in travel, including the Titanic replica setting sail in 2022.
"Who in their right mind wants to get on a ship called the Titanic II?" asks Murphy. "And, by the way, go on the original route of the original Titanic where it sunk?"
He goes on to explain why air travelers shouldn't fear unruly passengers who attempt to open the door mid-flight after the latest incident involving a Frontier Airlines flight that resulted in a deployed emergency slide.
"Some people have asked isn't it too easy and have said they shouldn't be able to do that and the answer is no because they need to be able to do that in case there's a fire onboard or you need to get people evacuated quickly," said Murphy. "Those doors need to open once that cabin is depressurized. That is the key thing that a lot of people don't realize. You're not going to be able to open those doors in flight because the cabin is pressurized."
"You don't have to fear every time you hear one of these stories about a passenger getting psychotic on a plane and trying to open a door while it's in flight."
Later, Murphy dishes on a recent Wall Street Journal report that custodial workers at Disney theme parks are coming across the ashes of deceased people more and more often.
"This is true loyalty to a brand," added Murphy. "These parks have become the final resting place for more people than most people would imagine. If you're going to go that route, make sure that your loved one stays there. You've got to find a good spot where they're not going to get vacuumed up."
Other topics include a Southwest Airlines passenger who blamed President Donald Trump after groping a female passenger while she slept, an artificial moon over China and the New Year's trip of a lifetime.
