Sam Smith and the BBC Concert Orchestra have recorded a new song at London's Abbey Road Studios for the upcoming animated miniseries Watership Down.
Smith co-wrote the program's theme song, "Fire on Fire," with Steve Mac.
"I am so excited and honored to be a part of this new adaptation of Watership Down. This story is so powerful and timeless, and it has been thrilling to work with Noam and his team and the incredible Steve Mac on this song for it. I hope everyone loves it as much as I do," Smith said in a statement Friday.
"I'm blown away that Sam Smith is bringing his singular voice to our adaptation of Watership Down. With 'Fire on Fire,' he's created a theme song that connects with the heart of this iconic story. Bringing this story to life has been a long and incredible journey made by the immensely talented and dedicated cast and crew. I can't wait to share the full series with the world this Christmas," added producer Noam Murro.
Based on Richard Adams' classic novel, the miniseries is to premiere this Christmas on the BBC One in the United Kingdom and worldwide on Netflix. Its voice cast will include James McAvoy, Ben Kingsley, Olivia Colman, Nicholas Hoult, John Boyega, Daniel Kaluuya, Gemma Arterton, Rosamund Pike, Peter Capaldi and Mackenzie Crook.
Adams died last year at the age of 96.
