Windstar Cruises has doubled the number of Concierge Collection shore excursions in 2018. Guests now have a total of 90 excursions to choose from.
The Concierge Collection offerings are small group experiences ranging in size from 12-16 guests. They’re designed to offer a taste of local life and culture. Sample activities include halibut fishing off Icy Strait Point, Alaska; a flight over the vineyards of the Medoc Valley in Bordeaux, France and a lunch and olive oil tasting with the Maître d’Hotel of the Splendido Hotel in Portofino, Italy.
“At Windstar, we are out to own destination authenticity and deliver the destination experience better than anyone else with more immersive tours, more overnights and longer hours in port to explore," said Windstar president John Delaney. "Our teams, who carefully craft each excursion, are the clever architects of our guest’s vacation, designing each experience to top the last one.”
Many of the 44 new Concierge Collection tours for 2018 involve culinary experience. Others focus on nature and the environment.
Highlights of the new tours for summer and early fall include a 30-minute polar flight to Grimsy Island from Akureyri, Iceland. Also new is a cooking class at the Blue Door Hotel in Tangier, Morocco. In Tromsø, Norway, guests can take part in a Huskey Hike from the Tromsø Wilderness Camp. In Portimao, Portugal, the Concierge Collection offering is a Winemaker Experience and Bottle Blending Workshop at Quinta dos Vales. And in Bora Bora, an overnight romance package is available at an overwater bungalow at Pearl Beach.
