All of us have been taught since childhood to Read. One of the world’s richest and most inspiring man – Warren Buffet too suggests inscribing reading habits in order to make wise decisions and grow successful in life. Though, reading is quintessential to succeed in life, however, what you read is as crucial as the act itself.
For example: you can spend the whole day reading Sydney Sheldon or a Research Paper, but what you gain out of it at the end of the day matters.
One Question you must ask yourself before picking a book is – ‘What’s your ‘Take Away’?’ or ‘What’s your ‘Purpose’ of reading this particular book, article, journal, or research paper?’
Buffet suggests reading books or articles that give you knowledge, facts and figures, so that you can think critically and make informed decisions based on the information gathered.
However, the game just doesn’t stop here!
Reading and accumulating knowledge are just the precursors of your success in life. But this knowledge is of no use if you don’t know what to do with it.
As per experts, you must make reading a part of your self-improvement plan. When you know what more skills/knowledge you need to acquire to improve yourself, you would effectively know what to read and how to utilize the ‘take away’ from your reading material.
